The road to Rupp.

Bullitt East basketball prepares for the 2014-15 season with high expectations.

With returning seniors Tyler Bacon and Austin Wheeler, this season has high expectations as the Chargers hope to make it to Rupp. After last seasons 26-8 record, the team is hoping to do even better. The red zone also wants to continue the great student section success from last year.

The Red Zone was arguably the best in the state. Lead by 2014 graduate Cambron Stewart, the Red Zone made many student sections look small as Bullitt East advanced into districts and regionals.

Sophomore Alec Mcguire said, ”I think the Red Zone was a big part of last seasons success.”

Bullitt East basketball is trying to continue their tradition of excellence with a trip to Lexington this season. Rupp Arena, in Lexington, is the site of the state tournament, the goal for every boys high school basketball team in the state. Bullitt East most recently went to state in 2012, with help from Hayden Sweat, Derek Willis, and Rusty Troutman. A loss to Rowan County in the final four ended their run.

Key players on the team this year include seniors Tyler Bacon and Austin Wheeler. As well as juniors Tyler Sharpe, Bailey Rakes, and Brandon Klefot.

“I just want to help in any way I can.” said senior Austin Wheeler
