East Quarter Basketball Review

East starts a new era.

With a new starting lineup and new coach, the Chargers look to continue the East tradition of excellence.

After losing all five starters and undergoing a coaching change; East still had high expectations going into the season. With the hiring of Jason Couch as head coach, the team wanted to start off his tenure strong.

After losing to Warren Central in the first game of the season East responded with a win against Collins. The Chargers lost two of their next three games by a total of five points.

East won seven straight games after their 2-3 start. That included wins over Waggner, Lafayette, and Bracken County. The Chargers played Bracken County in the Ashland Invitational Tournament. Junior guard Luke Ezell scored 42 points against Bracken County included a school record ten threes. As a team East made 19, another school record.

The Chargers currently sit at 10-5 and are 1-1 in district play. Their next game will be against Pleasure Ridge Park in the second round of the Louisville Invitational Tournament. In their first match up at PRP earlier this year the Chargers got the 66-62 win over the Panthers. If East gets their second win over the Panthers of the season they will play again on Friday Jan 13
