The end of the Timberwolves

Star small forward Jimmy Butler has requested a trade and prefers three teams.

Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota. Butler has three teams in mind that he wants to join, these include the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and the Brooklyn Nets. Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau doesn’t want to trade Butler.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski, Butler told Thibodeau he wants to be traded before the Timberwolves media day on Monday. Butlers preferred team he would like to be traded to is the Los Angeles Clippers. Reports were rumored this past offseason that Butler was frustrated by Karl Anthony Towns’ and Andrew Wiggins’ nonchalant attitudes. But, according to Jon Krawczynski, the Butler and Towns deal had “little if anything to do”, with his request.

Butler was a huge pickup for the Timberwolves, but he wasn’t free. They traded Kris Dunn, Zach Lavine, and Lauri Markkanen to the Chicago Bulls for him. Butler lifted the team with a 47-35 record and got them into the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. With the Timberwolves, he averaged 22.2 points, 4.9 assists, 2 steals, and 5.3 rebounds in his all NBA defensive second team season.
