From the Hardwood to the Award Ceremony

Earlier this week the boys basketball season officially wrapped the 2018 season up with their team banquet. Multiple people won team awards based off stats that night. Junior Zak Perdew led the team in most points averaged. Senior Rece Watson led the team in best field goal percentage, blocks, and rebounds. Senior Tyler Steinmetz led the team in most three pointers made and best three point field goal percentage. Thomas Wiseheart led the team with the most assist.

With what a season they had and all the adversity they faced. Every single one of these players found a way to put up incredible numbers. This team and the season they had will be remembered for a long time.

On the flip side, we had a lady charger who had one of the best seasons in school history. Emmy Ralph won KABC player of the year. In order to get this award she had to play at the top of her game every game. “I played as humble as possible and tried to be the best team player i could be.” said Ralph. This award could mean so much because of how much work she had to put in. She worked harder than anyone else to make her dreams come true.

She got recognized by college coaches, other teams and players. She stood out from everyone else on the court. You don’t always got to score the most points to be nominated for miss Kentucky Basketball player of the year. “Individual points don’t matter to me. I want to be the player that gets the most assist and is the best team player on the team.” said Ralph

Even though their season ended pretty short. Ralph would give up all of her awards to go to state with her team. “This season was fun and we had the talent to make it to state. But we didn’t. Going to RUPP was our main goal as a team but we fell just short.” said Ralph

She always had dreams of growing up to do what she loves and getting recognized as a team not individually.
