The lady chargers soccer team has completed three matches this season, along with two scrimmages before the school year started.

Their first two scrimmages were against Boyle County and Bethlehem. The girls won with a final score of 3-1 against Boyle County, and tied Bethlehem 2-2. Goals in the Bethlehem game were made by seniors Tayler Mahoney, team captain, and Emily McDonald. Last season, the team lost to Bethlehem in the first round of semi-state with a final score of 5-6.

An away game against Central Hardin marked the first official game of this season, and the lady chargers won with a final score of 4-2. They also won their next game against Eastern, with a score of 2-0. Both goals in the Eastern game were made by Mahoney.

“This season so far we are carrying ourselves as one unit and one team. We’re just playing together and realizing the bigger picture of winning state or even just going to state and doing something that hasn’t happened for Bullitt East girls soccer,” said Mahoney.

This past Saturday, Aug. 17, the team had their first home game against Owensboro Catholic. Both teams were unable to score, but there were a few close shots by both teams. The game was called at halftime due to heat index, and the final score of the game was 0-0.

The lady chargers will face Male this Wednesday, Aug. 21 on the home field. Junior varsity will begin at 5:30 p.m. and varsity will follow at 7 p.m.
