No time for tears.

The volleyball team pulled out a win on their senior night and went on to focus on districts.

The team had two wins last week. Seven seniors were celebrated during senior night. The Lady Chargers now prepare to take on district week.

Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Lady Chargers took on Atherton High School on the home court. They played the best out of three sets and East won 2-0. Then Thursday, Oct. 17, the team played Central High School on their senior night. The Lady Chargers played the best out of 5 sets and won 3-1. Senior Taylor Clemens said, “It was really nice to win, it is a good confidence boost coming into this week. I think it’s something we needed more than we think we did.”

The team has seven seniors this year, and two foreign exchange students that they also celebrated. The underclassmen players lined up, making a tunnel for the senior players to walk through, as a voice over of the seniors talking about their future plans and favorite memories played throughout the gym. One by one, the seniors walked through, hugged their coaches and lined up with their family members for pictures. Senior Julia Kromenacker said, “The hardest moment during senior night was knowing I have to leave the freshman and JV team.”

The girls didn’t have much time to think about how it was their last regular season game as a Charger until after the game was over. Clemens said, “I think the hardest moment of me at senior night was when the game was over and I walked to the locker room. It kind of all of a sudden hit me that this season was really over and that was my last time playing a regular season game for Bullitt East and I was very emotional about that.”

This week the team will take on districts. They played Whitfield Academy tonight, Monday, Oct. 21 and won 3-0. Their next game will be Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Bullitt East at 6:30 p.m. against Mercy.
