Senior Aiden Robison handing the “Region 5 Coach of the Year” award to Coach Kyle Downs. During Robison’s speech, he pulled out a gift bag, with an award for Downs being named the “Coach of the Year,” from their regionals match. “I didn’t do anything different this year than I did in any other past years. You know, you win awards, and you don’t win awards, and it’s always nice to win it, but it’s not something that I look forth, at the beginning of the year,” said Downs, “It’s cool to get it, I’ve gotten it twice. You know, I’m two time defending FBLA Region Adviser of the Year, and you know, they’re cool to get; to get awards and stuff like that, it means that you’re kind of doing a good job, but it also means that you have good people around you, you have good players, you have good support, and at the end of the day, it’s an award, and it’s nice to have, but, you know it’s not about me, it’s about the kids, and as long as they’re being successful, then I’ll be fine whether I get one of those, or not.”

The Boys Golf Team Celebrates A Successful Year

Senior Aiden Robison golfing at the Bowling Green Country Club, for the state tournament. Robison qualified for state after competing at the regionals tournament, and he ended up playing round one and round two at the state tournament on Oct. 11 and 12. “It was a lot of fun, it’s always a blast to represent your school. It was a great tournament, I had fun, and I learned a lot,” said Robison, “I made a lot of silly mistakes, but that’s a part of golf. Not everything will be perfect. That’s why golf is the best game, not everything will be perfect. It teaches you to stay patient and get yourself out of tough situations.”

The Bullitt East Boys Golf Season is Officially Over

The boys golf team placed second at regionals on Oct. 1, against 12 other teams, and Robison and junior Thomas Bryan earned a spot in the state tournament. “Thomas and I are going to get prepared for state by playing a ton. We want to show the state that Bullitt East has some great golfers,” said Robison.

Robison, the team, and Downs all got emotional after Robison’s last match ever, and Downs decided to comfort Robison by hugging him. “I met Downs in fifth grade, and I’ve known him for a very long time,” said Robison, “I would not be the person I am, if I was not on this team, and Downs had a big help in making me the person I am today.”

The Boys Golf Matches Have Come To An End

Robison did not do too well for the final hole of the Sept. 11 golf match. “I hit my first shot in the bunker on the right, and then I hit that about ten yards, and then I hit that ball into the hazard left, and then I had to drop, and then I got that on the green, and then two putted. I think the reason for that is I turned around and saw Downs’ shoes, and ate fareway, and I just get such an angry feeling whenever I see those, (jokingly said that), and I just cant humanly explain it, and I feel like that is the reason I doubled mine,” said Robison.
