No Steps Back

Commitment is the key to success.

The Lady Chargers volleyball works hard to be successful in the future.

Senior Savannah Glass has committed to Indiana University Southeast. This past weekend the girls had a tournament at Central Hardin. The team has high expectations next week, and believe their bond is what is going to get them through.

The Lady Chargers are very happy for their teammate Glass for committing to IUS. She has worked hard the past two seasons, and is now finally being rewarded. Hard work really does pay off.

“I’ve known the coach for a long time, and I love the coaching there. Also IUS is one of the few schools that allow girls to play volleyball and pursue a nursing degree at the same time. IUS offers everything I want: academics, a close location, nice campus, and volleyball,” said Glass. Glass will officially sign at the group signing in November.

The volleyball team played at the Queens of Court tournament this weekend at Central Hardin. The girls went 3-2, but there was some struggles. They hope that as soon as they get rid of the communication and serving errors, they’ll be able to beat their competition.

Senior Claire Feldhaus said, “We struggled this weekend. Friday went well but on Saturday we lost to two really good teams. We got down on ourselves and got mad at each other, and it was very obvious that our emotions got the best of us. It’s a learning experience though and we will all learn from it as players.” This team has strong chemistry and it seemed to show this weekend at Central Hardin.

The team has high expectations for next week. They plan to practice their new defense and improve on communication. They agree that a lot of times they get caught standing on defense when they should be continuously pursuing the ball.

While Mercy will be a challenge like always, they just hope to take what they’ve learned from past games and apply it. They are prepared for Mercy to hit some unreturnable balls and to make some mistakes, but they plan to just shake it off. Thursday they will play Fern Creek and believe they shouldn’t have a problem as long as they apply their knowledge. All are easy fixes if they are really committed to it.
