The luck of the Irish may be running out.

The Celtics clinched the first seed for the playoffs but their luck may be running out.

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics in the first game of the playoffs. Isaiah Thomas’ sister, Chyna Thomas, unfortunately passed away the day before the playoffs started. After barely getting the first seed Boston may not have what it takes.

The Celtics take a hard loss in Sunday’s game versus the Bulls. The Celtics lost the game by four points. With the loss the Bulls are now  up one game in the first round of the playoffs. With this loss in the first game of the first round, this may have hurt the Celtics in their playoff run. This one game could affect the entire series for Boston.

Chyna Thomas, sister to Celtics star Isaiah Thomas, unfortunately passed away in a car accident on interstate five in Washington State This has massively affected Isaiah Thomas recently. Thomas was seen sobbing on the bench before game one started. He still managed to put up 33 points and five rebounds for his sister in Sunday’s game.

It may be difficult for the Celtics to continue their run, even as first seed. After a hard fought season and finally taking top seed over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Celtics may not be able to pull through in the playoffs. The Celtics may not be able to beat top rated teams such as the Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and the Washington Wizards. If the Celtics do pull through though, it is highly unlikely that the Celtics will beat the Golden State Warriors or the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA finals. If the Celtics play as they did in some games of the regular season they may survive.
