Football for ladies might not be what you think.

Bullitt East hosted the annual powder puff games September 20.

There were two powder puff games played. The freshman played the sophomores and the juniors played the seniors. The Juniors and sophomores were most expected to win.

Powderpuff is an exciting fundraiser where ladies in their specific grade level play football. It isn’t like the traditional football, the players will not tackle each other. Instead, they have to pull each other’s flag off of the belt, which is located around their waste, one flag on each side.

The Lady Chargers wear a shirt with the color that represents their class. Freshman wear grey, sophomores wear white, juniors wear red and seniors wear black. Usually, they go all out and paint their faces crazily for this once a year event.

Last year, the sophomores defeated the freshman and the seniors demolished the juniors. Needless to say, the seniors of this year are ready to win against the juniors of this year.

“This year I expect for us, juniors, to beat the seniors for the second time. But, some of our weaknesses are not being able to pass the ball very well so that may affect the game a little,” said junior Allison Thompson.

This year, freshman are in for a treat as they have never experienced powderpuff before. “I expect for powderpuff to be really enjoyable and competitive. I have heard that they really get engaged in the game and take it serious. I honestly can’t wait to play,” said freshman Lexi Starr.

Powderpuff each year has been something that each class looks forward to, even freshman.

At the game, the freshman took on the sophomores first, beating them 25-22. Next was the juniors against the seniors, juniors pulled off the win in double overtime. The final score was 19-13.

Overall, the powderpuff games had very good attendance. Many are already looking forward for next year’s games.
