The arena fell silent as fans witnessed a horrific injury.

The NBA witnessed a horrific injury during the season opening game as Gordon Hayward had a season ending injury.

Fans were shocked to see the gruesome injury in last night’s game. Gordon has received a lot of support from other NBA players and Celebrities. The game  was close as the Celtics lost by 3 as kyrie missed the buzzer beater to finish the game. This is not the first horrific injury basketball fans had to sit through.

The arena went silent as Hayward came down on the leg awkwardly and ended up severely fracturing his tibia and dislocating his left ankle. Gordon is expected to be out for the rest of the season. Hayward is planning to undergo surgery wednesday morning but reports are still coming in.

Haywards face explains it all as he lies on the ground in pain with his ankle forcefully twisted to the left. Lebron James and Dwyane Wade came to Haywards immediate support wishing him the best and sending him prayers. Many other NBA stars tweeted out wishing him the best and also a few celebrities. Skip Bayless also received a lot of hate for his tweet as he said that this injury should make it easier for the Cavaliers to make a playoff run, but he received a lot of backlash as people thought it was too soon and disrespectful to Hayward.

This is not the worst injury the NBA has witnessed as many players have had similar and worse injuries. This gives hope in maybe seeing Hayward out on the court next year. Paul George, A star player for the thunder, had a similar injury to his left foot and came back the next year and played at the same level before his injury. Another infamous injury was Shaun Livingston, who was told he would never play basketball again, Livingston broke his leg in multiple different places and came back to win two championships.
