Cross Country Shatters their Own Records

Saturday, Oct. 12, a majority of the cross country team beat their own personal records at the Haunted Woods Classic in Oldham County.
The girls had an outstanding performance in the race. The boys also had high placings in their race. The season is coming to a close for the team.
The highest placing girl for the team was freshman Raelee Hawkins as she has been for the majority of the season. She placed 18th and ran a mile in 6:08. Placing 25th was sophomore Mia Maguire who ran a time of 6:11. Shortly after, in 50th place, was sophomore Emma Egan who ran a 6:38. Junior Emily Tinelli followed in 53rd. Eighth graders Shelbi Heath and Emma Lesher and junior Jaiden Hammack all finished shortly after. “Our team did really well on Saturday. Eleven of us got personal records with some being over a minute,” said Maguire.
On top for the boys was junior Alex Christmas who placed 81st with a time of 5:33. Junior Logan Gentry came in 89th and ran a 5:42. Coming in 10 spots after him was junior Zach Ballard who ran a 5:56. Sophomore Tyler Bass placed 122nd.
The season is nearing the end and the team is looking back on a successful season. “Personally, I am really sad that the season is coming to a close, but I do know that there is a good amount of people who are happy for it to be over because they are excited for track and ready for a fresh start,” said Maguire.
The next meet is the Milton Keynes Athletic Club Conference meet Tuesday, Oct. 15.
