Some things just never go out of style.

Fashion has taken a turn in 2022. When you walk into school or anywhere in public, it’s almost as if you’ve walked through a time machine, taking you back to the 1980’s and 1990’s. Some of the most popular styles and trends from these times have made a comeback, causing major nostalgia.

It’s time to step back in time and take a look at the biggest fashion trends of each decade that have made their comeback.

When you think of the 1970’s, many people picture people wearing bell bottom jeans, frayed jeans, tie dye shirts, pleated pants, tight fitted t-shirts and midi skirts. That is exactly the style that has made an appearance in the lives of teenagers across the world. If you walk into any public setting, you will see many of these early 1970’s styles making their way back.

The 1980’s were an iconic decade for the fashion industry, sparking the attention of many. Trends consisted of some of the boldest styles you will ever see. It was  made up of clothing like turtlenecks, high waisted jeans, mom jeans, ripped denim, leather jackets, oxford shirts and many more. Shoes were also an important aspect of the true 1980´s fashion. Shoes such as Doctor Martens, classic slip-on Vans, Adidas, Air Jordans and many more were worn all over the world. All of these are now part of people’s everyday looks in 2022.

The 1990’s have left a big influence on today’s fashion. Scrunchies, acid washed jeans, tube tops, oversized sweatshirts, biker shorts, flannels, slip dresses and chunky shoes have continued to be worn from 1990 to 2022. The 1990’s was an iconic era for many. Groups Like the Spice Girls, Nirvana, Radiohead, Green Day and the Dixie Chicks inspired some of the most iconic fashion trends of all time that still live to this day. Walking through the streets or any public place is like re-living the 1990´s all over again.

Lastly, the 2000´s fashion trends are slowly becoming popular again. Those of Gen-Z have grown up in the 2000´s, but nobody expected all of the fashion trends you may have seen when you were younger to come back in style. Some of the biggest fashion trends such as low rise jeans, claw clips, strappy sandals, tiny handbags, corsets, pencil skirts, cargo pants, polo shirts, tracksuits and distressed denim were created during the 2000’s and are making a comeback. Today, many girls around school wear claw clips in their ponytails, low rise pants and berets. As for boys, many wear things such as cargo pants and trucker hats.

The question many are wondering is “why are these styles suddenly coming back?”. The answer is that many big influencers such as Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and more, etc, have inspired people all around the world by wearing some of these popular styles. Scrolling through social media and seeing people bring these styles back have inspired many to dress as if they stepped through a time machine.
