With political tensions being as high as they are right now, it’s important for us to consider other options when it comes to how we align ourselves with political parties. A good third alternative besides republicans and democrats is a new political party called The Forward Party.
The Forward Party is a political party founded by former presidential candidate, Andrew Yang. The Forward Party looks to put the power of the government into the hands of the people, and let the people decide what is best for them.
Forward has many policies and values it wishes to uphold. One of the values they promise to uphold is to follow the rule of the law. Forward promises to follow all laws and respect the authority of the constitution. Considering decisions made in the past year by our current acting president that violate the constitution and the due process rights of people who are of a foreign background in this country, many Americans would benefit from a government that practices what it preaches, and follows the laws that it sets in place.
Forward also wants to make more global alliances. Forward wants America to be the pinnacle of democracy, doing so by making global alliances to help countries stabilize democracy in other countries. But Forward also thinks it’s important to stabilize our own country by rebuilding our country’s policies from the ground up. Literally.
One of the best policies Forward wishes to implement is the reorganization of America’s current answer to how policies in America are formed. Forward wants its policy platform to focus on helping individuals and small communities. Forward believes a policy that is focused on the majority of Americans wouldn’t be enough. It would be impossible to help everyone with one policy platform.
Forward also has many problems with the country it wishes to fix. Forward is very honest about their problems with the American voting system. They believe that because of our current partisan system, voters have to choose between two options, and whoever they don’t vote for is automatically the enemy. To fix this they have many solutions.
One solution that Forward has is Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). With RCV voters would receive a list of candidate options and would then rank them from who they want in that position most to least. This would help eliminate partisan voting, and hopefully allow for more voices to be heard from multiple candidates.
Forward is making waves across the nation. Forward has organized teams in most states, including Kentucky. They’ve even gotten enough support to become minor parties in four states, Florida, Colorado, Utah, and South Carolina.
What separates Forward from other parties is that Forward doesn’t care about being correct. Forward is quite literally, forward. Forward just wants to do everything it can to help the American people in every way it can.
