Ed and Lorraine Warren deal with a case that ended it all.
“The Conjuring” is a famous movie trilogy that has been running since 2018. When the final movie came out September 5th 2025 it truly was spectacular, This movie setting the second highest global debut ever for a horror film.
The Conjuring: Last Rites movie is claimed to be the last movie that they make out of the trilogy. What draws people’s attention to this series is that they claim it’s based on a true story and real people. In total, there are four “Conjuring” movies, each one talking about a different case that The Warrens took. At the end of each film there are photos of the real people and many clips of interviews on the internet from 1971-1989 about the real life stories.
This is more emotional for the fans due to the last time for the characters, Ed and Lorraine Warren played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. These actors have great chemistry together because they’ve been in the roles of paranormal investigators that are married and have been working together for twelve years. The connections to these characters have been growing over a decade to fans and realizing that it came to an end is very heartbreaking. Over time, the fans have been following the cases of the warrens forever and the ending of this movie gives wonderful closure. In this film you see Judy coming of age. We first see her in the film as a baby that almost doesn’t make it alive to a woman that is taking on big responsibilities and taking a stand for her beliefs.
The movie begins with a flashback. A pregnant Lorraine is in a dark attic looking room and she sees a mirror that’s covered with a cloth. She takes off the cloth and is interested in the mirror that has black metal around it and three babies heads on the top. She touches the mirror trying to get a better understanding of it, as soon as she touches the mirror she gets visions about her baby than suddenly going into labor. This hints about how Judy Warren played by Mia Tomlinson grew up as a child, Judy would “see things” and she always thought it was her imagination but soon she realized that she had to see for herself.
Meanwhile there is a family named the Smurl’s experiencing paranormal activities in 1970-1989 in the state of West Pittston, Pennsylvania. At first there were minor scary things happening around the house until it escalated causing them to beg for help from a priest. When the priest arrived he quickly realized that the family needed help. However he never made it past the demons to get the Smurls help, and that’s when Judy took the leader role before her parents because she sensed that something different was about this case.
Overall, this series has been loved for years and has a true connection to the fans. I think this movie making it the last movie is a good decision with the way this movie ends you can see closer within the family. You also get to see how the real Ed and Lorraine Warren lived the rest of their lives.
I rate this movie a 8.5/10 and recommend it if you love to watch horror movies.
The truth unfolds.
