From assistant principal to big boss.
It seems as though Principal Joshua Lightle is settling into his new position at Bullitt East High School very well.
Lightle is extremely impressed with the staff that surrounds him and the students as well. Not to mention how excited he is for the events that the Mount Washington community puts on every year! He has also met quite a few goals already, but he still has a few that he wishes to accomplish this year.
Bullitt East High School has an incredible team of staff who work tirelessly every day to ensure that their students are very well taken care of. It should come as no shock that Lightle is really starting to see this since school has begun.
From being respectful to being hardworking; he really enjoys working with everyone here and doesn’t have many, or any complaints. Lightle said, “I’m impressed with the staff, I’m impressed with the level of engagement in the classrooms that I’ve been in.”
Lightle came from PRP, where he was an assistant principal. It’s no shock that the environment there is entirely different from Bullitt East High School due to cultural, geographical, and district differences. Mount Washington, while not being small anymore, still acts as though it’s a small town and is extremely community-oriented. Whether it’s football games or school projects that help people in the community, just about everyone pitches in and helps out for these events.
“What I’m most looking forward to, the first football game. I’ve been to one in the past as a teacher at another school, and it was awesome, but I wasn’t cheering from the Bullitt East side, so I’m just looking forward to seeing the community come together,” said Lightle.
Everyone has goals, but the goals for this principal are quite different compared to most principals you may speak with. “My biggest goal coming in was to build relationships with the staff, and I believe I’ve done that for the most part,” stated Lightle.
Joshua Lightle genuinely has a passion for his profession and really does care about the people in his school. Most principals would say their biggest goal is to raise the budget or to build a new football stadium. Yet Lightle is different, and from what most can see, it seems as though he’s been completing these goals very well.
“What I want most is for kids to learn and be set up for the future, and get kids to be at the next step and do whatever that takes,” Lightle said.
