Bullitt East puts the strict in restricting.

This year, parking lot rules are made to keep the parking lot safer, Bullitt East may or may not of made the rules too strict.

The parking passes at Bullitt East are considered a privilege that may be broken by many students. Some students believe that the rules are too strict and has been a controversy between teachers and students among the school. There are many rules ranging from attendance guidelines to safety guidelines, and also behavioral guidelines. Junior Cameron Durbin said, ¨I don’t even know what the rules are.¨

Some people also may question if the rules are actually the right rules. Many also think the rules are too strict. Senior Karli Yarbrough said, “The only rule they have changed was that we couldn’t camp out for parking passes and that was a bummer because it was a huge bonding moment.¨

Calhoun said, “The rules haven’t changed for the parking passes since I was a sophomore.¨

People wonder how these rules have an impact on the parking lot. Also, traffic is a big issue when students go to school in the morning, and when students go to leave all at the same time. Durbin said, ¨Instead of worrying if students staying in their cars in the morning, they [administration] should fix the traffic issue.”

Calhoun said, “I think the rules keep fights in the parking lot to a minimum.”

Not many rules have changed but most have been enforced over this school year. Momma Jo said, “ We are monitoring the parking lot a whole lot more than the past few years so we’re catching people who are trying to park for free.”

The administration has had to warn many kids about parking at the school without a pass, so the next step is bringing in the tow trucks. Many kids who get their restricted/full licenses after the days were parking passes are sold don’t get a spot and they feel that it’s not fair.
