After already having two meets to kick off the season, the archery team takes a step back to reflect on what they need to improve on.

On January 7, the archery team traveled to Mercy Academy for their first tournament of the season. This past Saturday, January 14, the team hosted a meet here at Bullitt East. After both meets, the team realized exactly what they need to focus on.

At the Mercy archery meet, BE placed second. Individually on the team, Emily Yoakum (12) received second place, Sydney Marcum (11) received fourth place, and Elizabeth Norton (10) received fifth place.

The archery team received third place at Saturday’s meet, falling right behind Mercy/Trinity who placed first and Bullitt Central who placed second.

Halie Smith, senior archer, said, “One thing the team needs to work on is concentration. The team’s strong point is motivation. We motivate each other to do well.”

Again at this previous meet, Yoakum stood out in comparison to her competition. On January 21, there will be another meet held at Bernheim Middle School. Be sure to follow @BELivewire on Twitter for updates.
