Get your head in the game!

After many students spent the entire football game tailgating in the parking lot Friday, Sep. 29,  Principal Chris Mason has decided to ban tailgating during games.

Students are no longer allowed to stay in the parking lot during football games. Many students were outraged by the ban and took some of their anger to social media. At the last football game, many police officers were stationed in the parking lot during the game.

With the new ban of tailgating, there are rules set for during the game. Students are no longer allowed to be in the parking lot once the game begins. They must either buy a ticket and go into the game, or leave the school property and hang out elsewhere. The attendance of the games is not a concern as the rule is just being issued to keep people out of the parking lot. Mason wants more students in the game and wants more people in the redzone cheering for the team instead of in the parking lot where they could possible get in trouble.

“Students need to be in the stands watching the game instead of in the parking lot” said principal Chris Mason.

The ban of tailgating outraged many students as some say it’s the best part of the game. Tailgating has become more popular since students are no longer allowed on the track. Some students stand behind tailgating saying that the games are too expensive to get into, especially after they raised the price to six dollars.

Luke Gentry, Junior, said “It’s uncalled for and just dumb, I mean they had the whole police force there last game for no reason… the student body is down to compromise with the administration but to take away the only fun thing about football games and make us pay six dollars is ridiculous.”

Police officers were on duty in the parking lot last game and nothing bad happened as there were no arrest made. This seems to just be an issue with people not going into the game and spending too much time in the parking lot instead.
