Making America safe again.

Gun control is a topic that has had to be discussed far too much lately with the many mass shootings that have taken place in recent years.

Mass shootings are an awful tragedy and unfortunately, we have to deal with them in today’s time. The most recent shooting occurred in Las Vegas at a country music festival, where 48 people were killed and over 400 were wounded. These were innocent people who had to experience something terrible and did nothing to deserve all of the pain and suffering that it put on them and their loved ones. It is incredibly sad to think that there are certain things that could have been done to prevent this heartbreaking tragedy and the many more that have happened in the past. Nobody really knows why shootings like this keep happening, but it needs to stop.

We are limited on ideas when it comes to things that our government can do to stop the ongoing problem of mass shootings in the country, but it is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed. Being more strict with our gun control laws seems to be the only option, but even this will not resolve the problem completely. Gun control is a very touchy subject and one that many people have very different opinions on. With that being said, making it harder, and in certain cases, almost impossible to own a gun could solve many issues when it comes to unnecessary gun violence.

Many people will raise the argument that not everyone who owns a gun has the intentions of using it in a harmful way towards others. This is where in some cases gun control laws can be unfair. It is very true that in America, there are many people who are in possession of guns because they are hunters or they simply enjoy shooting at targets or clay pigeons. There should definitely be some exceptions to the gun control laws for the people who fall under these certain categories, but they should still have to go through a longer process to be able to own a gun than we do now. This will allow people who own guns for enjoyment to still have that opportunity.

Even though gun control can be unfair in certain situations, the protection of our people will always be the number one priority. We need to take into consideration the positive effect that stricter gun control laws could have on the wellbeing and safety of our citizens.
