Charlie Kirk, Co-founder of the right-wing youth activist group Turning Point, was shot and killed while speaking at a Utah Valley University debate hosted by TPSUA, on Wednesday.
A post on social media from FBI director Kash Patel stated that the shooter wore dark clothing and fired from a roof on campus some distance away. A person of interest is in custody and is being questioned.
Krik, who was 31 at his time of death, was participating in a debate as a part of his “American Comeback tour,” according to Turning Point USA’s website. It was the first stop of the scheduled 15 across the country.
After the incident, a press conference was held where Beau Mason, commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, said the shooting was believed to be a targeted attack. “I want to be very clear, this is a political assassination,” said Spencer Cox, Utah Gov.
