Future Business Leaders of America gives students a head start on their future.
At Bullitt East High School, FBLA is a national organization that helps students build business skills, compete at conferences, and prepare for careers through leadership and service opportunities.
At Bullitt East High School, FBLA is more than just a business club; it’s a place where students learn real-life skills, travel to conferences, and challenge themselves in competitions. Led by Preston Nunn, chapter president, who also serves as Region 3 president, the organization focuses on leadership, career readiness, and community impact. Through events, service projects, and teamwork, FBLA continues to shape future leaders both inside and outside the classroom.
FBLA helps students build leadership by planning meetings and organizing events. It prepares members for the future through competitions, conferences, and trips where they learn real-world business and communication skills. Members get the chance to set goals, compete at regionals and nationals, and grow both personally and professionally. FBLA also focuses on helping the community through projects like Reality Store events and outreach at middle schools. The President, Preston Nunn, says .“FBLA is to help get kids’ life experiences and ideas of competitive and business life.”
This year, the chapter has set several goals to grow and strengthen the program. One of their biggest focuses is increasing membership and getting more underclassmen involved so the club can continue to grow in the future. The club also hopes to qualify more students for state and national competitions, which means spending more time preparing and practicing event material, and making sure everyone is well-prepared for upcoming events. Overall, the goal is to build a stronger club that leaves a lasting impact. Preston Nunn says, “My goals for Bullitt East this year are to grow, and personally, I want to place top three at regionals and compete at nationals this summer.”
FBLA members at Bullitt East have achieved a lot over the past year. Last year, one of their members, Jack Binkley, made it to nationals out of 200 competitors. Membership also grew this year to about 100 students, which is one of the largest clubs. This year, the chapter is focused on preparing for the spring regional conference and deciding which events members want to compete in. As Preston Nunn said, “When Jack placed at nationals and when I got first in region for computer applications, these accomplishments show how FBLA gives students real opportunities to grow, compete, and succeed.”
