It’s only just the start.

Kicking off the beginning of the new Cross Country season this past week, the team traveled and competed in two different events.

On Tuesday, August 23, the team ran in their second practice meet of the season. This was the Fern Creek Relays held in Louisville, Kentucky on Charlie Vettiner Road. The boys ran at 6 pm and the girls followed. All the runners on the Bullitt East team performed very well.

Starting the day off bright and early the XC team had their first official meet on Saturday morning, August 27. The Bullitt East runners competed in the St. X Tiger run event held in Louisville, Kentucky. The boys and girls both performed exceptionally well in running their 5K.

Josh Wetzel, 10th grade was the top Bullitt East boy to finish the 5K race in 20:50. Coming in as the 199th out of 302 people to end the race. Not too far behind him was Matt Wheeler, 11th grader clocking in at 22:05, making him the 253rd runner to finish. Both of these times are considered to be superb, especially on the first official meet of the season.

The first girl to finish her 5K on the team was Lindsey Spencer, 10th grade, coming in at 24:09. This named her the 73rd out of 203 runners to clock in. Abigail Clarkson 10th grader, finished in 24:56, ended the race as the 88th runner to complete the 5K. These times are good for the girls, but they still hope to improve.
All members of the Bullitt East Cross Country team ran really well this past week in their events. There are very good expectations for what is soon to come with the team.
