Nothing But Improvement

A night time accomplishment.

On Saturday, the Bullitt East Cross Country team competed in their first night event in Elizabethtown.

This past Saturday, September 3, the Cross Country team traveled and competed in the Central Kentucky Gold event held in Elizabethtown. The event was ran in the E’town Sports park and was the first “night” run of the season.

Ending the night with a bang, all members of the XC team performed exceptionally well in their 5K race. The boys began their run at 8:45 pm, followed by the girls who started at 9:30 pm.

The darkness didn’t stop any of the Bullitt East runners,  as most all of them finished with a faster time than last week.

Josh Wetzel, sophomore was the top Bullitt East boy to finish the 5K race yet again this week with an even better time than last week. He clocked in with with a time of only 19:03. Making him 79th out of 143 runners to end the race. Coming in right behind him this week was, junior, Matt Wheeler, clocking in at 19:53. Naming him the 104th runner to finish out of 143 total. Both of these times are considered to be extremely fast in the cross country community, especially compared to last week’s times.

The first girl to finish her 5K on the team again this week was Lindsey Spencer, sophomore, coming in with a time of 22:32. Making her the 47th out of 134 runners to finish the 5K. No too far behind was Abigail Clarkson, sophomore, who finished in 23:35. She ended the race as the 80th runner to complete the race. These times for the girls are really good, and a lot better than last weeks.

All members of the Bullitt East Cross Country team performed very well in running the 5K. Beginning the season this well, there are nothing but high hopes for what the rest of the season has in store.
