Running to the finish line towards a small victory.

The season is coming to a swift finish as the team’s last runners, sophomores, Abigail Clarkson and Lindsey Spencer compete in the State Cross-Country meet.

Saturday, November 5, the girls traveled down south to run in the state meet held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Starting the afternoon off with a 5k, the girls began running at 2:00 p.m.

The top girl on the team to end the race this week was Spencer, bringing it in with a time of 23:39:38. This named her the 204th runner to complete her 5k out of 243 runners total.

Clarkson came next on the team, clocking in with a time of 24:30:14. Placing her as the 219th runner to finish in her state 5k meet.

After competing against runners from all across the state Spencer says that she, “Enjoyed going to state but not the actual run itself.” As of goals, Spencer explains, “I didn’t meet my goal, the meet was hard for me because I didn’t feel my best.”

Though personal expectations were not met, it was shown to be a good run for both of the girls. The race was hard, but it proved to be a good ending for the cross-country season.
