A Meet of Setbacks

The archery team didn’t compete to their best abilities at the Bernheim meet this past Saturday, in which they placed third.

The team feels as if there weren’t any strengths in their performance this weekend. To better themselves, the archery team needs to relax and have some fun. There are a few expectations for this next meet on January 28.

Last week, Halie Smith, senior archer, said the team was doing really well with staying concentrated during their meets. This week, senior archer Will Spencer reports seeing a change in the way they were competing. “…we have had some of our best shooters including me not shoot very good. We just had one of those bad days as does everyone else. We are working on not letting things get to us. We really honestly didn’t have any strengths this time, it was just a bad tournament for us,” said Spencer.

The team continues to stay focused, but it could be taking a toll on them. The concentration levels have come to a point where the team isn’t having as much fun as they used to. Spencer said, “We think about it way too much and let it get to us and then we are nervous. Yes it is about the score and what you please but we really just need to go out there and have fun with it.”

On Saturday the 28, the archery team will travel to Eastside for a tournament. If the team takes Spencer’s advice and just relaxes, hopefully the outcoming will be much more pleasing.
