Not Comfortable Without Couch

Jeremy Antle

Students are coming to the realization that Coach Jason Couch is really gone. Couch underwent a kidney transplant on March 2 and is expected to be out for the rest of the school year. As one of the student’s favorite teachers, Couch’s absence is being felt all around the school.

Sophomore Macy Pratt described Couch’s absence as “very depressing.” Pratt isn’t alone.

Sophomore Blake Hourigan said Couch’s absence has been nothing short of  “awful and weird feeling.”

However, students are hopeful of Couch’s return close to the last week of school. Track coach Lenny Raley said he received a report on the day of the surgery and said Coach Couch is “doing well in his recovery and his kidney is functioning great.”
With the average time of recovery being three to eight weeks, kidney transplants are not easy to recover from. However, students are still hopeful of Couch’s return before the end of the school year.
