Giving to those who need it most.

During this past week, the Red Cross held a blood drive at Bullitt East.

Many students contributed some of their blood to the cause this past Friday, Nov. 3. Some of these students have never donated before, this gives them a chance to make a difference and continue in the future. Senior, Logan Hudson said this was his first time donating and plans to donate in the future. “Donating your blood can impact someone’s life big time,” said Hudson.

In the United States, someone needs blood every two seconds. “I felt it was a way that I could help someone out one day,” said Hudson. Just a simple gesture such as donating blood can make a big difference. “I felt it was a way that I could help someone out one day and sort of like me giving them life,” said Hudson. Hudson was just one of many that donated this past Friday. According to the American Red Cross, the most requested blood type by hospitals is type O. A lot of people out there were helped because of the donors.

Another student who decided to donate was senior Cori Etherton. “I know I’m helping other people and it makes me feel like a better person,” said Etherton. This was her third time donating blood, she also plans to donate in the future.  According to the Red Cross, when someone donates, they could save more than one life with one donation. Plus when someone donates, they get free snacks.

This year’s turnout was successful. The drive was held in the CCRC and it lasted until 1 p.m.

Even some students contributed to the drive but didn’t donate. Many of those students assisted the Red Cross and lent a helping hand.  Everyone who donated some of their own blood contributed to saving a life.
