Bullitt East FFA Chapter Attends National FFA Convention
The members from the Bullitt East and North Bullitt FFA chapters who attended the trip line up next to the FFA sign in the entrance of the convention. They were able to meet fellow FFA members and attend workshops to grow their leadership skills. “The workshops that I attended while on the convention showed me how to stop outside of my box and talk to new people while also becoming a leader when needed,” said junior Madi Wilhite.

From the state of Alaska to Puerto Rico and from the state of Maine to Hawaii.
Future Farmers of America members from around the country gathered in Indianapolis to attend the 92nd National FFA Convention.
Along with the 70,000 FFA members that attend the trip, the Bullitt East FFA chapter had nine of their members attend the convention. There they went to workshops and sessions to further their skills in different aspects. During the convention, they were able to mingle with fellow FFA members to share ideas and create new friendships.
National Convention lasted Oct. 29 through Nov. 1. FFA advisor Megan McConnell, senior Donavon Matheis, senior Camron Hall, junior James Schmidt, junior Madi Wilhite, sophomore Emma Whitehouse, and freshman Jackson Gentry attended the trip.
During the first day of the convention, they went to watch the first Opening Session. There the national officers conducted the opening ceremony, had performances by the national FFA chorus and band and speeches from special guests such as, inspirational speaker, Bob Goff. Throughout the entire session, the theme of the importance of agriculture in our world and being our truest self was mentioned all throughout the session.
The following day, students and advisors went to workshops to further their skills in leadership, chapter growth, community service, and alumni support. Some of the workshops included “Advocate to Advo-GREAT” and “Tweeting Transparency.” “The workshops that I attended while on the convention showed me how to step outside my box and talk to new people while also becoming a leader when needed,” said Wilhite.
Throughout the workshops, they had to work with other FFA members from all over the country. They also had the opportunity to mingle with other FFA members while walking throughout the convention. “Meeting fellow FFA members from across the nation is one of the most important aspects of the National FFA Convention. Our students are able to create a bond with students who have common interests and goals as them,” said McConnell.
The Bullitt East chapter hopes to use all of the things they have learned from the trip to grow their chapter and have more activities to get their members involved with the community.
