The end of a season.

The boys won their first district game against Fern Creek and lost the second district game against Jeffersontown. They also lost the region game against Evangel Christian.

This season has been rough for the boys but that doesn’t make it any less memorable, especially for the seniors. Senior Patrick Ballard reflects on his basketball career at Bullitt East as it comes to an end. “It’s been like a true family and I just love every bit of it,” Ballard said. Ballard does not plan on continuing to play but he has plans to be a basketball manager at Western Kentucky University.

Senior Adam Pruitt states his career has been “an awesome experience.” “Starting off, we didn’t play well, and then we started to play better as the season went along, but ending the way we did was tough,” Pruitt said. Despite the challenges the boys faced this year, Pruitt believes junior Camron Brogan and sophomore Sam Wilson will lead the team next year as they both have good leadership skills.

Wilson feels that the end of a season is always very upsetting, “I love all of the seniors like brothers, and when a season ends it really hurts the team. When you have a bond like we have, the end of a season is always so rough,” Wilson said. While seeing the seniors leave is difficult for Wilson, he is taking the initiative for next year, as Pruitt thought he would. “We’re pretty much guard-heavy, so we need to put a lot of work in this summer so we can prepare for next season. I’m planning on becoming a bigger role on this team like I know I can,” Wilson said.

As this season comes to a close, Wilson awaits a brighter season next year, “I’m hoping that our team can come together even more and have a great season and get back to Rupp.”
