Tragedy Strikes at Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport

A UPS carrier plane crashed at Louisville International Airport at 5:15 PM on Tuesday after just taking off from the UPS Worldport. Reports of an explosion remain made near Grade Lane and Fern Valley Road.

LMPD claims many injuries have been reported. As of November 5, seven have been confirmed deceased. 

Giant masses of smoke and fire spread nearly a mile. Officials stated to remain outside a 5-mile radius from Muhammad Ali.

The plane took off at 186kts, climbed to 175 feet, began to turn, then went down, The aircraft was identified as a McDonnell Douglas MD-11.

Seen on the scanner, 250,000 gallons of jet fuel were on board at the time of the crash, according to UPS.
