Have you ever gotten hurt from working out or activities like sports practices?
Injuries from working out can be crucial for the future, or even now when you recover and return to working out. You can have a lot of trouble getting back to your normal; some people after some injuries can’t go back to “normal” at all—even some of the littlest injuries that you think you did can impact your performance.
Out of a survey from students at Bullitt East to see if they work out and if they have ever been injured from working out, 11 East students answered the survey. Out of those, 82% work out, and the remaining 18% work out occasionally. However, 55% of the students said they had been injured from working out. That sounds not too bad, but in reality, it’s 6 out of 11 students who have been injured at least once.
Kylee Willis was one of the many students who has has lifelong problems now, caused by an injury from working out.. Willis pulled a muscle in her arm while working out. Now she has struggled with sports, working out, andeveryday life things. She does softball and is a pitcher a lot of the time, but since she pulled that muscle it can hurt a lot to pitch, especially for a longer time in a row of pitching. Just one injury has changed her life.
Be careful when working out because you never know what could happen. There are many more things that can happen than pulling a muscle. Make sure you have good form to not get injured and almost always work out with someone else or just have people there like being at a gym. Good form helps injury most likely not to happen, and having someone else there/ working out with you helps with if you are struggling. There are many things that can cause injuries. Just make sure to take them seriously and let them heal as much as they need to so they don’t get worse or cause further injuries.
