Bullitt East cheer starts, will they win State again this year?
Bullitt East cheer is dominant, confident, and determined, and they always have a strong team each year.
The new 2025-2026 Bullitt East cheer season is kicking off. The cheer team has won 5 Nationals titles and 12 State titles. Bullitt East cheer has made a run for state every year with coming in 3rd place in Nationals last year. They are ready for another great season.
Some of the goals Chelsea Wright has for this season are that she wants to go to State again in her senior year and make it to Nationals. Nationals and State are a big thing for this year’s cheer team and past cheer teams. Chelsea also talked about how being a leader feels good and that when being a leader means she has to make sure she sets an example for the freshmen and other cheerleaders. Senior year is a big thing, and here is something that Chelsea said about senior year that she is ready for: “ I am really excited, it’s a good opportunity to be a leader, and it’s my last year, so I want to make the most of it,” said Chelsea.
The Bullitt East cheer team has a lot to be proud of considering their past years. Handling cheer practices, school, and social life as a teenager is a lot of pressure and definitely a full-time job. “I just make time for school work and hang out with my friends on the weekends, and cheer is a full-time job. So I’m there 4 days a week. So I kind of just find time to fill in with my family and friends.” Kaleigh Kaufman. With the reputation, Bullitt East cheer has the have so many people counting on them. Practices are tough; some days are easier than others. 4 days a week, at least 2 hours with the same people every day, it can be hard. “Thinking to myself about the nationals is worth it. A national title, a ring, and a jacket are very worth it. Sometimes it’s harder than others, but you just have to think there’s no better feeling than winning.” Kaleigh Kaufman
This season will be a tough one. The Bullitt East cheer team is in a whole new division. With lots of new, very skilled competitors. With that being said, though, they have many new strong athletes. “I think the freshman and the rest of the team mesh really well, and we are working really hard at practices, and it’s going well.” Bailey Basham. A team is not just one person; it’s many other people, so everyone has to work together and have a good mindset for the right things to work. Even with all the disagreements and tough practices, they always know it will be worth it in the end. “I think it will be a tough and hard-fought season, but I think it will be successful.” Bailey Basham
