Zach Combest, Business Editor

Your dream homes are on display in the Mount.

The 2016 Homearama is in Bullitt County for the first time in Homearama’s nearly 50-year history. The annual building industry showcase of new homes is featuring houses in Bullitt County, along with homes at Norton Commons in northeastern Jefferson County.

The Homearama website stated, “Homearama is an annual Louisville event that showcases custom built new homes that are fully furnished, decorated, landscaped and feature the latest in building trends, technology and interior design.”

Nine homes are on display in River Crest by Pleasant Grove Elementary which is on the far western edge of Mount Washington. The homes, which are in the mid-$400,000s to upper-$500,000s price range, are in a new section called Central Park. About 65 homes already have been built or are under construction up Bogard Lane from Pleasant Grove Elementary School, on a roughly 300-acre former farm site near the Salt River. All of the homes are located on a oval street and have different designs. Most of the homes have been sold already but people looking at the homes can buy the furniture, paintings, pictures, or anything in the house on August 1; as everything in the houses are for sale.

Having Homearama in Mount Washington is expected to help of economy and many people are expected to visit Mount Washington and Bullitt County during the 16 day homearama showcase. Many people travel to look at these houses to get ideas for their own home and learn about local companies that can make their dream home a reality.

River Crest was chosen as a Homearama site after its development partners submitted a request to be part of the show along with developers of other sites to the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville, which has put on Homearama since 1968.

Future amenities are expected to include a splash park, playground, swimming pool and clubhouse; which will be in the center of the nine showcase homes.

Entrance to a single site cost $10.
