This library construction will be one for the books.

The library has been getting some renovations done this year.

The construction is being done to help make the library more useful for technology. The renovations started over the summer while students were on break. Noise level hasn’t really been a problem while the procedure has been underway.

It is getting updated because the  isn’t technology friendly due to the use of the new Chromebooks this year. Now, it is going to act as a computer lab since there have been nine outlets added at the tables.

There have been some countertops added by the windows for independent student study, kind of like what you would see at Starbucks. New furniture is on the way, like barstools that will be expected to come soon. Also, a new reception desk has been added at the entrance of the library, which is more convenient since it is in the front.

Last April, the construction was proposed to the Board of Education and was approved in May. Not much work was done over the summer, but the construction started in June. Since there are boxes stored in the library for Halloween in the Halls, the renovations will start again after that event is over. The finished product is expected to be done by the beginning of next school year.

These new renovations will allow more students to go and study or do work. “In the past, we used the computer lab for classes, but we won’t have that need this year. What we have found is, we’re having a whole lot of classes coming in, so they can spread out so that they don’t have to be on top of each other,” said librarian, Kellie Davis.

Surprisingly, the construction hasn’t really affected the noise level in the library that bad at all. “The day they [electricians] were putting the electric in, they came in and we were CERT testing, so they had to leave,” said Davis.

Hopefully, by next year, the students will be hard at work while manipulating the new renovations that the library has to offer.
