We the people, in order to form a more perfect protest.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneer football player, began a protest by sitting during national anthem as Donald Trump was elected president. His protest was over Trump’s statements on minorities, women and LGBT people. Evans only sat out for one national anthem which was the Buccaneers’ Salute to Service game, a game to honor veterans. His protest then ended after the game because he had proven his point, which was that Trump has a bad outlook on other races and thinks that they are all bad people.

Evans has a big role on the team. He is a wide receiver who has 916 yards total on the season. He also has eight touchdowns thrown to him. Luckily his protest only lasted one game because the bucs’ need him. Evans sitting out was a good way to get his thoughts out. He is just one of many people that have sat out of something because of either racial injustice or Trump being elected. Evans’ protest followed many riots throughout the world on Trump.

Although these riots aren’t going to change a thing, they all show that Trump will not be welcomed easy. He will have to prove that he is not the awful man that people think he is. It is that bad that a professional football player sat out of the sport that he loves and makes millions doing, just because he doesn’t want a man he doesn’t trust to run his country.

There is also a part of Evans’ protest that is offensive to people and may not be a good thing. The fact that he picked the one game they play to honor veterans is probably not a good thing. Because not only do people think that he is disrespecting Trump and America itself , but also the veterans and the people that have served our country in war. Either way, some people are going to support him and some people aren’t. Evans knew this but did it anyways to show what he thinks is right.
