As of Saturday, January 28, FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) members from Bullitt East competed alongside other schools in The FCCLA Regional Competition at Martha Layne Collins High School.

Moving towards new horizons, the FCCLA club at East turned many heads as all 12 members pulled through placing either first or second in the regional competition.

Six of the seven STAR Events were held last Saturday. Juniors Krista Watts, Kendra Adams and Taylor Willis will present the seventh Culinary STAR Event on February 24.

Members at Regionals competed against other high schools in hopes to move forward to state. STAR Events that received first place would proceed on to the state competition of which will be held at the Galt House in March.

At the competition, junior Brianna Hopper presented the Early Childhood Education event,  while freshman, Sarah Sargent presented the Chapter Service Project Display in the junior category.  Focus on Children in the junior category was presented by freshman Aubrey Allen and Natalie Allen. All of which placed first and will be proceeding on to the state competition.

Events receiving second place were the Chapter Service Project Display in the senior category that was presented by seniors Brooklyne Wright and Haley Davis. Sophomore, Keiley Sewell in the senior category presented the event of Focus on Children. While Nutrition and Wellness was presented by sophomore Grace Fluhr.

Promoting personal growth and leadership development the organized FCCLA club at Bullitt East will continue preparing its students with practical knowledge, as well as career preparation as the year continues.
