After several tough tournaments, the archery team makes a comeback in an unusual tournament this weekend.

The team split up into two this weekend and traveled to both North Bullitt and Bullitt Central and competed the best they have all year. The Region 5 KY NASP tournament is approaching and the team will have to go some lengths to prepare. Once again this week, the team needs to focus on concentration to compete to the best of their ability.

This weekend, the 56 person archery team split into two separate teams. Team one traveled to North Bullitt and received first place, and team two traveled to Bullitt Central and received third place. Amanda Jump, junior archer, said, “The team overall did the best the team has done this year. It was just a good day for everyone I suspect.”

On Feb. 17 and 18, the archery team will travel to Taylor County for the Region 5 KY NASP tournament. To prepare, the team will hold a practice tournament at Eastside Middle this weekend, Feb. 11. On top of that, the team has five practices before the tournament, so they will be using that time to their advantage.

Once again, the team needs to focus on concentrating to exceeding in all they do. Jump said, “Most of the shooters are good shooters but when you get a group of friends to gather as a whole, the amount of concentration needed to shoot well goes down because those shooters aren’t completely zoned in on what they should be doing.”

Even with that being said, Jump believes that they have the ability to compete in the Region 5 KY NASP tournament as well as they did this past weekend.
