Kevin Durant kept the warriors in the first seed.

After Durant’s recent injury the Golden State Warriors have been going through a rough spot.

Durant has been leading the Golden state Warriors to the first seed in the West throughout the season. Recently Durant was injured and the Warriors have been on a cold streak ever since. The warriors have been doing well before Durant joined the team, winning a championship in 2015 but the warriors have been more dependant on Durant recently.

The warriors have lost five out of their last seven games without Durant. Durant was putting up around 25 points a game when he was on the warriors. One of the reasons the warriors may be losing without Durant is the lack of support from the Warriors bench. Over the offseason the Warriors had to cut out a few bench players to sign Durant. Durant compensated for the loss of the strong bench players by leading the team throughout the season.

After the loss to the San Antonio Spurs Monday night, the Warriors are 1 loss away from being placed second in the West. Depending on when Durant comes back or if the warriors can pull together without him the Warriors may not finish out the season with the first seed in the west. This could make things more difficult for them entering the playoffs this april.

Durant is out indefinitely with and sprained MCL and may not even come back before the playoffs start. His injury could cost him a championship, which is one of the main reasons he joined the already good Warriors team. If Durant does come back before the playoffs though, they will have a stronger chance of making it to the NBA finals and maybe even winning a championship. If Durant cannot come back to play in the playoffs, the Warriors may have a difficult playoff run.
