Throughout time, many Davids have beaten their Goliath.

This year in the Western Conference Finals, the Golden State Warriors, will fall to the San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio has the best chance to upset the star studded Warriors and continue throughout the playoffs. While the loss of future hall of famer, Tim Duncan hurts, they still have star players like Kawhi Leonard and Lamarcus Aldridge. With San Antonio’s starting five, their depth, and their star player Kawhi Leonard, they have a better chance than any other team in the west to win if they play the Warriors.

San Antonio’s starting five consists of Tony Parker, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, Dewayne Dedmon, and Lamarcus Aldridge. Although the Warriors starting lineup, which is potentially the best in the NBA, is better than the Spurs, I believe that the Spurs can hold their own against the Warriors in this regard.

The Spurs best asset, their depth. San Antonio has tremendous bench players which includes Pau Gasol, Patty Mills, Manu Ginobili, Kyle Anderson, Dejounte Murray, David Lee, and Jonathan Simmons. Their bench consists of veterans, and younger, high energy guys. On the other hand. The Warriors depth is lacking. They have Kevon Looney, JaVale McGee, Ian Clark, Shaun Livingston, and Andre Iguodala. The only player in that list that can be a large contributor is Andre Iguodala.

Gregg Popovich is a future hall of famer and is called the best coach of all time by some. Even though the Warriors seem to have struck gold by hiring Steve Kerr, he just doesn’t have as much experience as Popovich. Popovich has been in the playoffs 19 times. That is more than any active coach. With Popovich’s experience in the playoffs, he has the edge against Steve Kerr.

Some analysts claim that it is not the Spurs who have the best chance to beat the Warriors, but the Rockets. The Rockets are third in the Western Conference and are led by MVP candidate, James Harden. The Rockets are second in offensive efficiency. With James Harden now at the point, their offensive game seems to be unstoppable. But, their biggest flaw happens to be on the other end of the court. The Rockets just can’t play defense. They rank 14 in the league. This is a problem that the Spurs don’t have. The Spurs are ranked 7 in offensive efficiency and 2 in defensive efficiency. The other key factor is James Harden. Harden has been unstoppable on the offensive end of the floor this year. But the Spurs have secret weapon with defensive star Kawhi Leonard. Leonard has proven over time that he is reliable to stop other stars.
