Have a holly jolly Christmas- in Disney World!

While most families stay home for the holidays, this family took a fun vacation.

Makayla McMichael and her family traveled to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida to celebrate Christmas this year. Their vacation included many Christmas related sights and activities. Going around this time of the year is something different that the family has never done before.

The McMichael family stayed in a cabin-like lodge. ¨This year we’re staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge which is very exciting because it’s one of the nicest resorts. Its very big and has a great restaurant. It also has a huge, pretty Christmas tree right in the middle of the hotel,” said McMichael.

They decided to go to Disney around this time of year as something different. ¨This will be my fourteenth time going but my first time going for Christmas. We decided to go mainly because my mom has been there for Christmas before but my dad and I have never been,¨ said McMichael. The McMichael family stayed in Disney  December 18th through the 24th.

While at Disney, the McMichael family took part in a fun Christmas activity. They went and saw the story of Christmas on the second day if their trip. ¨Neil Patrick Harris told the story of Christmas and how it became something. There were choirs and bands that played and sang while he was on stage and told how Christmas became,¨ said McMichael.

Another great thing about going to Disney around Christmas time is the warm Florida weather. ¨It doesn’t really feel like Christmas here even with all of the decorations because of the warm weather. The weather is in the mid-eighties and feels really warm¨ said, McMichael. Swimming is also a common thing around this time even if it were a few degrees colder because of Disney’s heated pools.

As one can imagine, Disney is even more magical when filled with all of the decorations. ¨Everywhere you look there is a Christmas tree and the whole park is decked out in Christmas decorations. Its overwhelming in the best way possible and truly a kids dream come true,¨ said McMichael. Disney World around Christmas time would be a great vacation for any family who’s looking for a fun-filled festive time.
