Back to the routine.

Cavaliers pick up a big overtime win over the Timberwolves on a game-winning shot from LeBron James.

After losing seven out of their last 12 games, the Cavaliers win in overtime over the Timberwolves 140-138. It is a good win for them to gain momentum into the playoffs. Especially after losing two in a row.

To say the least, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been struggling lately. They’ve been giving up lots of points and have done very uncharacteristically things. The 26-20 Oklahoma City Thunder defeated them 148-124. In this game, LeBron James had 18 points, seven assists, and three rebounds. Their leading scorer this game was Isaiah Thomas with 24.

The Cavaliers will need an answer to these losses. After losing two in a row against the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets, the Cavs responded with a big overtime win against the Timberwolves. While giving up 30 points to Karl Anthony Towns and 35 to Jimmy Butler, the Cavs seemed to have an answer for everything. LeBron James recorded a big 37 points and the next highest scorer being J.R. Smith with 20. The two teams combined for an NBA record 40 made three-pointers with 19 from Minnesota and 21 from Cleveland. The game was very back and forth with 34 lead changes and 16 ties and it all came down to the last one. With 1.3 seconds to go, James received long inbounds pass from Jeff Green and turned around at the foul line and drained the jumper to win it.

The day after their game with the Timberwolves was the trade deadline, and they made some moves, to say the least. The Cavs traded away Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and a first round pick for Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson. This wasn’t their only move, they also traded Dwayne Wade back to Miami in exchange for a second-round pick. The Cavs last move was a three-team deal that sent Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose to the Jazz, and Joe Johnson, Iman Shumpert and a second-round pick to Sacramento. The Cavs received George Hill from the Kings and Rodney Hood from the Jazz.
