Cross Country Girls Stepping Up to the Occasion

Saturday, Oct. 19, the cross country team competed in the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Meet of Champions and finished very high in the rankings. 

The girls had one of their best meets of the season so far. The boys had good finishing times against tough competition. They have two more meets in the season. 

Finishing in 14th out of 253 runners was freshman Raelee Hawkins who ran the 5K 20:17.72. In 24th was sophomore Mia Maguire who ran a 20:47.18. Sophomore Emma Egan followed in 29th and had a time of 21:00.88. Junior Emily Tinelli finished in 34th and ran a 21:22.06. Junior Jaiden Hammack finished 179th.

Finishing in 92nd out of 451 runners was junior Alex Christmas who ran a time of 18:33.92. Junior Zach Ballard finished 134th and ran a 19:08.19. Freshman Braydn Russelburg ran a 19:11.42 and placed 141st. Freshman Lucas O’Connor, sophomore Cody Bostock, sophomore Dakota Cerra, junior Logan Gentry and sophomore Tyler Bass all finished shortly after. 

The next meet the team will compete in is the AAA Region 3 Meet. Seven girls and seven boys will compete in regionals to qualify for the AAA state meet Nov. 2. The AAA Region 3 Meet will take place Saturday, Oct. 26.
