Despite one of their matches being cancelled, the Lady Charger golfers still persevered.

Thursday, Sept. 16, the Bullitt East girls golf team was scheduled to play at Tanglewood Golf Course in a match against Spencer County, but Spencer unexpectedly cancelled. However, the Chargers were able to play a different tournament on Saturday, Sept. 18 in the Charger Cup at Quail Chase.

For the first time in three years, a team score was calculated for the Charger Cup, with the team scoring a total of 506. Seniors Alayna Wells and Shelby Hatter both competed in the tournament, with Wells shooting a 104 and Hatter shooting a 150.

For Junior Hallie Ogle, Sophomore Taylor Young, and 8th grader Liz Swift, this was their first ever golf tournament that they have participated in. Ogle shot a 133, Young shot a 130, and Swift shot a 139.

About this last tournament, Coach Larry Steinmetz said, “I think they did good, especially the new people. I was really proud, and they had some good holes. The only bad thing was that I really thought Alayna would break 100, she was so close but didn’t. All in all, I think they’re making a lot of progress.”

The team plays their next match on Thursday, Sept. 23 at Oxmoor Country Club.
