April 27, Bullitt East won against Jeffersontown, with a score of 13-3. “This is a team that we always kind of look forward to playing, just because of past games that weve had. And today, we really showed out, came out as a team; we were working together. What we work on in practice was really shown today, and Im really proud of how we played,” Bibb said, “For me personally, I was back in the lineup today and had an RBI (Run Batted In) in the hit. So, thats a big success for me personally, and then as a team, honestly, just coming out and playing the way we did. Obviously, like I said, seeing the way that weve practiced come out and actually see it on the field and the games is a really great thing to see.”

Jan. 11, Hale along with his teammates played against PRP, and lost. “Today, I feel we did the best that we could. PRP is a hard team to beat. Theres a lot of ins and outs in the bowling world, and even that PRP couldnt really figure it out. So, it was rough for everybody, but overall, we did pretty good. Everybody did their part,” Hale said, “Some highlights for me would be my first four strikes in the second game, which was pretty good. I should have gotten that fifth, but stuff happens. Beggars cant be choosers. Highlight for the team. We only lost the first bakers game by 40 pins. So, I mean, were right on their toes as soon as we get more consistency out of our players, we will probably be a pretty good matchup for PRP.”

I mean, PRP is a hard team to beat; they are probably the best in the state, and its going to take a lot of practice and consistency in our players to keep up with them. Some kids kept it real most of the time, but other kids lost their cool because they got frustrated, because bowling is a hard sport. Its all mental,” Hale said.

Hale will be one of the main players this year, after being on the team since freshman year, and having a high average of pins. “The most difficult part about this sport is definitely consistency. In order to be perfect in this, you have to be perfect, like throwing the same line, same ball, every time. Twelve times in a row. Perfect game. Consistency is definitely probably the hardest part,” Hale said, “This year, I am looking forward to going to region again. Who wouldn’t want to do that for four years, and show everybody that Bullitt East is someone to look for?”

The East versus Male game was one of the most anticipated games of the season when Bullitt East was placed tenth and Male was placed first. “I think the highlights of the season are, of course, beating North Bullitt and Bullitt Central felt great. Being able to actually show we can compete in 6A now, when we havent really shown that, and just being able to have a winning season,” Gauthier said, “I feel like theres spots where we didnt play as well as we should have, but overall, I think we improved a lot from last year.”

We had to capitalize on a few things, but overall, weve come a long way, as a team,” Egan said, “Converting on third downs, and just running the ball (was some of the highlights). We did pretty good on that.”

Many students have been worried about the possibility of us going back to online school, and Hale has noticed all those students. “The reason why so many people are feeling we could return to online school, in my opinion, is because a lot of people, I know, are saying how teachers, there will be barely any enough to take the place of all the missing teachers. So, theres probably a classroom, or so, missing a teacher, and kids. I mean, me being in a PE class, there was maybe about 40 people; now, theres like hardly 30,” Hale said.

Gourd was not supposed to wear a mask, going into this school year, like everybody else, considering she was fully vaccinated. “I wouldnt wear a mask (if there was no mask mandate), because I went through the vaccination process; I dont have to quarantine, if Im exposed. I just went through that process and I dont think I should have to,” said Gourd.

May 25, the Chargers played against the North Oldham Mustang’s, and at one point, during the game, senior Brock Hammond (right), senior Slade Douthett (middle), and senior Riley Harkey (left), were standing next to each other. Based on their number of runs, they led the team this regular season. “All of our seniors are always important to our team. They know how we want things done, and this is a time they get to be leaders, and develop some skills that will benefit them later on, in life. They are given responsibility, and asked to get things done, while leading the rest of the guys,” Bowles said.

The 2021 season for this year’s bowling team went pretty good, for senior Adam Young, in his opinion, for this being his last year on the team. “I’m going to miss competing in these kinds of tournaments, and playing with all these good kids. Im going to miss the team I played with, and grew around. This team means a lot to me, and Im happy I got to bowl with them, during my time on the team. I also want to thank coach Raley, for what he’s done for this team, and I want to thank him for being there, and just supporting us, along the way,” Young said.

A Season Like No Other

Mar. 5 would be the last normal game that this team would play together, before the regionals tournaments, and the state tournament. “Some things that have stuck out to me are who has come, and gone, and how we have improved and gained more people on the team, and the past two years being on the top of the region, and winning our regionals last year, and being runner up this year. Oh, and I can’t forget about the 300 bakers game we had last season. That was probably the one I look back at, the most,” Young said.

Ever since Mar. 13, 2020, we have had to do school either by zoom calls, just online, or by being in person, with very specific rules. “After all this time, I have found many things that I don’t like about online learning. I like the plan we have with hybrid, right now, though, as much as I can,” Crump said, “Missing out on things makes me feel so upset. These are things that we’ve all been looking forward to, as long as we can remember. I hope we can still salvage some of them, before the year is over.”

It wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but is a step for us to build on,” Adams said, “It’s definitely heartbreaking (that this is his last home, and season, game), as it was my last time on the field. I will never forget that game, and will have it forever.”

These three students have all created businesses doing the three activities, you see above. If you had asked me if my business was successful back when I started it, I would have said that it wasnt even a business. At first it really was just a way to make a little money, and give people these welcome and home signs, that brought some joy during the pandemic. Although, now, I am really getting into a successful business. Its profitable, but not overpriced, and Ive had over 100 orders in four months, Korfhage said.

When you combine those things, the game can get out of hand very quickly. We made some mistakes early, and Male took advantage of them. You cant give a team like Male any extra help,” Receivers Coach Tyler Faucett said, “We need to continue to improve. We still have two regular season games, and the playoffs left. We need to get better in every aspect of our team.”

Apr. 23, 2020, an event was held where seniors, and their families, could go to Bullitt East, and drive around their high school one last time, and Bass went there. “I was completely not expecting to be so emotional until the music came on, it added to everything and the teacher messages were amazing. It was really hard to see the baseball team so upset about their pregame song and jerseys hung up. I don’t think it had really sunk in that i was going to be saying goodbye to BE, so when it hit it was really hard. It wasn’t the send off we expected but our faculty and administrators really went above and beyond to make it special and I am so thankful for that,” said Bass, “I would drive through it 1000 times. I love Bullitt East, and it was filled with everything I love about it.”

That’s why our teams are working so hard to keep our stores clea, open, and stocked. As trucks and products come in we are stocking to the shelves, and filling what we have available to us,” said Mount Washington Kroger Store Manager Mike Brentzel, “We will continue to see low stock on some limited items, as long as the demand is high, and customers continue to change their lifestyles. My associates, and management team, will continue to deliver the safest shopping environment with stocked shelves for our customers.”

Someone looking shy, hunched over, and not doing much, above that photo. “The difference is usually more of a personal opinion, but I say the biggest difference is confidence. Introverts tend to be more worried about what people think, so they keep to themselves. But being an extrovert, even if you care, you dont let it get to you, and what people think of you doesnt really matter, so you can be bold, and louder. Thats the main reason why I switched (to an extrovert), because I just realized that there are going to be people who dont like you, and you cant let that keep you from living,” said extrovert freshman Kendall McGarry.
